Meath Memorial Garden
In 2007 as part of the Hospital’s “Patient
First Project” the windows opposite The
Meath Memorial Garden were partially
covered with images selected from the
Meath Archives to help the public finding
their way in the Hospital. New chairs and
tables were installed in this area to allow
people to stop and rest and this area was
named “Meath Court”.
To further enhance this area the Board of
Directors agreed a plan to improve the
Memorial Garden. ‘Thirtythreetrees’, a
firm of Architectural Horticulturists,
were retained to produce a design for the
Garden which included planting to give
patients in the rooms surrounding the
Garden privacy without obstructing light,
the installation of the two marble plaques
from the children’s ward in the Meath Hospital entitled “Morning” and “Night”, a natural water feature, lighting and
seasonal planting to bring colour into the garden. Following the development and tender stage of the project ILS Group were
appointed and commenced working in the garden on 12th May 2008.
The work on the garden is now complete and as you can see from the pictures the transformation enhances this area greatly.
The work on replacing the history panels in the Meath Court has also been completed. ‘Sign Right were retained and
have installed raised engraved panels that will not fade.
Please visit the Meath Court and see for yourselves the great work that has been done to enhance this area. It is clearly
identified with The Meath Foundation. At a later date it is intended to install sealed boxes to display some smaller pieces
of memorabilia from The Meath Hospital archives and to install a notice board.
